Vibrant Spaces expands

Council makes submission on Rocky Hill proposal
In yesterday's extraordinary meeting, MidCoast Council resolved to proceed with its submission in response to the NSW Government Department of Planning and Environment's (DPE) proposed Rocky Hill Coal Mine proposal and has recommended against the Rocky Hill Coal Mine Proposal, and nominated over 50 conditions of consent considered necessary if the DPE decides to approve the Proposal.

MidCoast Council to provide submission on Rocky Hill Coal Mine
MidCoast Council will prepare a submission to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment after the Department placed an amended Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Rocky Hill Coal Mine, near Gloucester, on public exhibition on Wednesday 17 August.

Proclamation of Amalgamations
The Minister for Local Government has proclaimed the amalgamation of Gloucester, Great Lakes and Greater Taree Councils. Accordingly Gloucester Shire Council was dissolved on 12 May 2016.

RAAF Operations in Gloucester
The Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Williamtown are currently upgrading their website to improve communications with local residents in the Gloucester Shire area. The aim of the program is to provide information to the public regarding flight operations so as people can better understand the regular (but infrequent) training programs over Gloucester Shire Council areas.

Local Government Review - Update
Council has submitted an alternative merger proposal to the State's proposal of a Gloucester and Dungog Council merger. The alternative merger is a 3 way merger of Great Lakes, Greater Taree and Gloucester Councils.

Disabled Toilet - Billabong Park
Council wishes to advise that it has been trialling leaving the disabled toilet at Billabong Park unlocked for all to use. Due to to recent acts of vandalism Council will be locking this toilet again overnight.
